Through the Woods

Strawberry red skies
when home beckons through sage woods
Pink love's going down
as dewdrops on purple rose
prior to the velvet close

Flowers follow me
their fantasy fragrances
recalling burnt gold
Beauty's dying once again
in throes of rapture and pain

These deep thoughts seem final and decisive. The woods separates the thoughts in the poem. Does the future die? I like this puzzling poem.

Thank you for your heartwarming appreciation, Hilda. I often like to leave my poems open to many interpretations. Basically, it's a poem about bittersweet goodbye. It could be a little death, like the death of a beautiful day, or it could be the end of a happy period in life, like a graduation, or a divorce. It could also refer to the death of someone dearly loved, who left precious memories to cherish, with 'home' symbolizing the final destination of heaven. Best of wishes. :)
