Through the Eyes of my Son
My younger son is my best judge, I believe,
Having spent more time with me, he can assess me better.
His random statements about my personality,
I believe are uttered with sincerity, not simply to please.
To him, the outstanding qualities of his mother
Are Compassion, Piety and a Yearning to improve.
Others’ pain can easily move me to tears
And am ready to alleviate their suffering as best as I can.
Forgiveness and Compassion go hand in hand.
Unless we are compassionate, we are not human.
Unless we let go, we can never be peaceful and free.
Unless we care, the fountain springs of life will go dry.
Coming to piety, yes, I am. I believe nothing is possible
Without God’s benevolence and I am rather strict,
That the family is together for the evening prayers,
For, I trust, it is through prayer, man is made fit.
Every day I entreat God to fill us with love and piety,
Which alone can keep all anxieties and fears at bay.
When problems tumble down on us, one on another,
With contrition, I address God in greater earnest.
Learning and changing every day, I strive to improve myself.
Endeavour to do my best, though never perfect.
With no inner debates and no lame excuses,
I do my duty and try to hold my head high.
Happy with my upbringing, I am thankful to my parents.
Loving myself, I am on my way to better myself.
Toiling hard to enhance the God given talents,
I cook, clean, paint and keep my surroundings beautiful.
