Through Eyes of Redwoods

"to hold, as 'twere, the mirror up to nature" William Shakespeare, Hamlet, 1601
towering redwoods forest dwellers born before Christ’s time on Earth spreading arms to lofty heights dwellings provided in hollow, cave-like trunks wrap your spirit in the redwood cocoon feel the cool, dark air refreshing body and spirit refuge from summer’s heat speak to me, redwood tree, tell me of times past when Native Americans cherished the land and Jesus preached in Galilee out of body, one with the redwood journeying through history living in a time tunnel where past meets present trees that know what man has forgotten ancient tribes with sacred values surviving earth-changing cataclysms surrounding us with secrets to share if we dare dwell within this broad, mystical expanse redwoods’ memories

Congrats my good friend! I have very little tree knowledge, so help me out...are Redwoods similar to Sequoya trees? If so, I have always wanted to see one of those monsters up close! ~JSL

An enchanting write, Carolyn! If those trees could only talk, they would have much to say! (They'd probably drop a bough on my noggin for eating that chocolate yesterday.:) If they could speak, I'm sure they would have us laughing, evoke tears, but mostly corral our thoughts trying to make us better people. Love this write, Carolyn!!! Best to you and yours, Mikki

Carolyn-if only the REDWOOD tree could speak and share its knowledge of time. This tree seems like a magical wizard withholding its knowledge....The bark of the redwood tree back in the late 1980's was experimented with heavily by cancer researchers-low and behold a commonly used breast cancer drug emerged-TAXOL. I remember administering it for the first time as a part of a clinical trial thanking God for once again "having the answer to a dreadful disease in nature"... Hugs. Gwendolen

I love this one, Carolyn. Wouldn't it be wonderful if those trees could talk? Or if they can, wouldn't it be great if we could hear them? I'd sure love to hear their eye witness accounts : )

how will Constance ever judge the best of the best? I am seeing so many cool tree poems today. MAN!!! This one for sure. When I was in CA I can't believe I never went to see those famous redwoods they've got out there.

These are some of nature's cathedrals, Carolyn! They are awesome indeed! Beatiful write. Reading this I'm reminded of Lord of the Rings and the scene were the trees help win the battle against evil. Glad you're having fun on that trip. Love, Audrey
