Three Years Letters
To Raychel, I got your letter
Thank you very much
You make me so happy when I talk to you
Or read your letters
Three years in prison
And a lifetime of running
Finally it stopped
But kept us all gunning
To Raychel,
I think to myself what is she is up to
Then I say,
I know she is thinking of the one and only me
The promises of a life time
When you’re locked on the inside, hiding from the out
Three years you’ve promised
What’s that all about?
Oh, By the way!
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I’m the luckiest man in the world
To have a daughter like you
Three years gone
Where are you now
I’ve begged, cried, and smiled
It shouldn’t matter how
In the whole world
You can replace money
But you can never replace love
And love is what we have here
Yet Money spent our family
Faster than we could spend it
Money was the problem
Greed made us split
To my little Raychel
I bet you’re happy
One day we will be back together
And that will be the happiest day of my life
Nowhere to be found
And back to your ways
I’ve called too many times
And waited 3,650 days
Just three years of letters
And those ten minute calls
That’s three years of letters
And what happened to it all?
Dearest Raychel,
Remember I’m here for you
Always no matter where I am,
I love you with all my heart
Forever,
Daddy Jim
Three years of letters
And where are they now?
No more promises
Or walls that think aloud
That’s ten years passed
You said you would be here
But back to your own ways
You’re nowhere near
