Threadbare Memories

Threadbare memories from my past like worn out souvenirs, packed away with dreams recast and thoughts of yesteryear. Tear-stained photos caked with dust and ghosts of long ago; stowed away and ne’er discussed, yet will not e’er let go. Are these daydreams all for naught within my mind amassed? Haunting now are threadbare thoughts, these memories from my past. November 8, 2021

That's a wonderful poem. Don't know why but such poems make me sad. I miss the old days so much. My friends, my goals, my enthusiasm, my creativity, Everything. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and comments, Paghunda. I think it's normal to miss the "good old days," we all do, but at least we will always have those fond memories. John

Your rhyming is superb John and your poems reminds me of all the photos I have packed away - from a good half a century ago and each photo recalls a memory. Excellent poem John, hope you are well, take care my friend, Covid still lurks and hides in dark corners. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

How many of us can understand exactly what your thoughts are in this awesome poem John - photos that span not only our lives but many from our parents era. We had to thin out a little when we downsized from our four bed roomed house, but it was heart rending, however it had to be done. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

A memory being like a "worn out souvenir". This thought tugs at my heart so deeply. All memories make up who we are. Some are tucked away, while others remain visible. This is tender and emotional, all at the same time, my dear sweet friend. May you always be surrounded by good moments and memories. Hugs, Brandy

As you get old your memories of the past like the souvenirs from your youth do get worn out, threadbare, but you can’t discard them because they are a part of who you are. You will understand this when you get to be my age, Brandy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and comments, I appreciate you. Hugs, John

It looks like we're dressed in the same black cloth today, John. I also posted something about haunting memories. They just keep showing up. Very well written, John.

Some old memories do haunt us and I suppose they will forever. There are some people who wear black well but I don't think I am one of them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Jenna. Hope all is well in your world. John

We all have those old memories John, some we'd like to forget but with time they all fade and we're left with fragments of the good and bad. Good luck in the contest, hope you are keeping well. Tom

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Tom. I suppose we should hang on to ALL our memories from the past because they are a part of who we are today. Stay well my friend. John
