Thoughts Upon My Bed
The yearning of my soul became the thoughts upon my bed;
The desire of my heart began to dance within my head,
As I was opened up by God; He took out my flesh and bone,
And when He closed me up again, for my inwards I did groan.
The one that I envisioned, He then began to make
From my dream and yearning with my inwards He did take
In the still of the night; For my groanings I got peace
When the morning light beckoned sweet sleep to cease.
I saw my heart's desire and the one I hoped to wed
Hand in hand with God, but not a word from me was said,
Until He brought her by my side, and He brought back to mind
The thoughts upon my bed; then I opened up to find
That she is now the one for me, a crown of glory for my life;
God will give to me His favor as I take her as my wife.
She shall be my only woman, much more than my helpmeet,
And I shall cleave to her alone and once again be made complete.
