Thoughts of Suicide

Tendencies to sense in me,
The will to kill the self,
Arise when I have thoughts to be, 
Another page upon this shelf.

Book is but a tale unread,
Besides by those of us who care,
To share that which by them's been said,
By those who've care'd to share. 

I'd rather be a page,
Rather be word than figured form,
Than have to suffer every age,
And sit before each human storm. 

Read of me in fiction,
Read of me in fact,
Free me of my family's addiction,
To be an artifact.

l felt every single line of this writing. I was at a very dark place some years ago, and the hardest part was when those around me said they had no idea what it was like :( Well l understand, so if this is you and you need someone to talk to, i'm just a soupmail away. Jackie

Jacqueline, thank you for your comment, it's always surprising, saddening and irritating to me when people cannot relate to something that seems obvious while they are obviously free of something that I'm not. I appreciate the reach out and extension, and I am sorry that you relate lol. It's a wave.

I've read many poems of suicide and self harm, usually cutting, over the years, mostly written by young people. You never can tell if they're serious or just hopping on the suicide poetry trend or trying to get some attention. In any case, if you're having these feelings the suicide hotline is available. I have a relative getting needed help as we speak Beej

I didn't know there was a suicide poetry trend but that sounds sick. I considered calling the hotline but it has poor reviews so I figured I'd just stare at the wall for 6 hours.
