Thou Shalt Love the Children

Thou Shalt Love the Children:
A request from Panagiota,,,please?

You remember that time when
you were twelve?
How the world was blossoming
like a flower to you!
People loved you, just for for you.

Perhaps your dad was a physician,
Perhaps Mom was a musician.
Or maybe both were addicts?
Was that your fault?
Whatever they were?

What kind of age are we living in?
When we poets down 12 year olds
Of being born to certain men?
Or women, for that matter.

I guess being a grandmother of a
terrific grandson, age 12,
I am heartbroken when poets here
Use 12 year olds as the butt of
jokes.

Poets are not late night host comedians,
who will do anything for ratings.
I see poets here groveling for fame,
By destroying a 12 year old,
Whose done no harm.

Loathe the parents if you must.
Children? Never harm them with your
words.
Many of you have or had 12 year olds.
Please remember they are kids.
You don't need to love them, but of
Disrespectful words, please stop.

Does this stuff actually occur... Hard for me to believe. Since I do not do any social media, I guess I am still living in 1950 style never land or something. Thanks for calling it the ugliness that it is. ~ Gershon

Hi Panagiota, Shame that people have nothing better to do than making fun of children - some of the wisest words are out of the mouths of babes - with you all the way! Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

I, like Robert, can relate to the damage that stays with you when as a child you are the joke of others. It hurts, and should never occur. You have stated this perfectly in your poem Panagiota. xxoo

Connie~ Children's souls are as delicate as crystal. No need to have them growing up in lasting pain. Especially wisecracking about them in poetry or comnents.. That's shameful. Thank you for letting me know your feelings. Panagiota xxoo))))

Kindness costs nothing to give. I do not hold with making fun of children. As I was made fun of at school because my family was so very poor, lived on a farm and were not in the , in crowd that consisted of the (rich)city-kids. I guess such is about the same the world over as human nature is too oft evil. Love your fine poem my friend.

Greetings from California. Children from the poor and the rich alike do not need to be mocked. I was a teacher for many years. Children are belittled by some teachers, it made me cry. About belonging~ I never felt I fit in anywhere in schools. God loves children..we should, too. Appreciate your comments tremendously.!Panagiota

Amen my friend! "Awaken them slowly, carefully...or they may be startled, feeling little more than shadows, frantic with light." "Some very large lessons of love have come to me from sizes much smaller than myself." They are precious. God bless!!

There is more than enough things to make fun of. Children should never be a target. Teenagers? I'm not sure. I should ask some since they know everything. Have a great day my friend.

Heh heh some teenagers are freaky, I was referring, David to straight kids who are of good character not Loons. The perceived sins or prejudices against parents need not be laid on 12 year olds. There are plenty oh idiot adults to attack thank you. Patti
