This World We Live In
This world we live in, is like a galaxy of its own
So big and ambiguous, I'm frequently alone.
Intrigue and mystery are things of the past
Thoughts of the future leave me truly aghast.
It's dog eats dog, each man for his own
Overlooking eachother whilst envisioning a throne.
Love and Affection are buried side by side
And reigning the earth are Mr Greed and Conceit- his bride.
Family values are slowly dissolving like snow
Commandment number 5 has reached an all time low.
Masks of benevolence are used to disguise intent
With only one motivation- to individually ascent.
Belief is illogical, magic no longer exists
For if it is unexplained, it is not on the list.
I tremble at the thought of replacing love for goods
It makes no sense to trade diamonds for wood.
My question to ask is when will this stop?
Will we lose control and fall from the top?
Will we self destruct and regret it all?
After all, the higher you climb the longer you fall.
As a humble proletarian, an answer I do not have
The answer you are seeking, cannot be found in a lab.
In such a predicament, creativity reigns supreme
Mere generosity and selflessness are not quite the theme.
For the answer, you will have to look deep in your heart
In a realm where logic and intellect do not play a part.
You must fear the future, you must appreciate the past
It all starts with the present, your contribution is vast.
