This Too Shall Pass

The precarious balance
The poignant bittersweet
The agony of defeat
The thrill of victory
All we have gained
All we have lost
All that we love
All that we fear
Everything we know
Everything imaginable
Everything we build
Everything that has been
In the blink of an eye
Too shall pass

This is sobering - I think we only want the bad stuff; the pain, the rejection, the disappointment to pass.. but I choose to live in hope, so this made me think and reassess my position. Thanks James :)

Thanks Christopher for the thoughtful comment. Sometimes it hits me just how transient it all is, and yet I too hope (or assume) that Life itself endures. On reflection I think this is very much a fall poem, the season of most obvious change.
