This Time Is Now

This time is not for chasing,
replacing one face with another,
replaying dramas passed from my mother
and hers before her.
This time I ask little
and take what I'm granted,
hoping for shoots from these seeds I have planted.
Open to look as hard as I need to
to break through,
find the you in me and listen,
rearrange the words that have been written
to tell a different story,
a new tale in all it's glory.
Set sail, open ocean before me
and the wind that blows
knows.
Some unknown force
that turns my other cheek to keep me on course
to keep from losing myself in another,
replaying dramas passed from my mother
and hers before her.

Knowing what this is about, my favourite line is 'rearrange the words that have been written', and I love that it's a very clear turning point, and right in the middle of the poem, which also fits nicely with the symmetry at either end.. I'd love to know whether that was a cleverly thought out piece of construction work by you, or a cheeky little flourish of the poem's own poetic life force..? :)
