This One Like a Child
This One — Like a Child
Like a child — one of those
Running
To greet Jesus — I find
Still in a part of my heart —
The child-me
Stil smiles, and
Still wishes upon
Her first-seen blinking beams
Of our Earth’s star rising every day.
It is that child-me I can find
Still dwelling within,
Who accepts life’s trials
Knowing God’s blessing
Of the strength to survive;
Who discovers in each day
The reasons to dance;
Who finds in the lines of
My drawings some places to play;
Who helps me to hear whispered words
Rising from the deepest well of poetry;
And who — as I drift into sleep —
Will recount for me the stories
Jesus told about lions and lambs.
