This Guy
There's this guy, you know, and he's so kind,
a better heart you'd be so hard to find.
He has this certain, gentle, easy way,
a light that seems to brighten up the day.
He makes the world feel safe and calm and bright,
a perfect end to any troubled night.
It's easy to get lost inside his eyes,
a deep green wood beneath the clearest skies.
Thoughts, like paths, just wander there and stay,
forgetting what was meant to do or say.
Not breathing, without a care, it's true,
tangled in the quiet wonder of him, too.
The scatter of freckles across his face,
Is my favorite sight in this whole place.
A constellation I could trace,
Each time he laughs, my heart gives chase.
They make me smile and feel my heart take flight,
Filling my soul with a silent, happy hush.
More than looks, it's what's inside,
the humble kindness he doesn't hide.
The way he listens, soft and true,
the quiet, respectful things he'll do.
An honest strength, a thoughtful grace,
makes this space feel safe.
His humor, quick, and easy as it seems,
makes every day seem brighter than the dreams.
He finds the fun in little, simple things,
and all the lovely, quiet joy it brings.
And though time has not been all that long,
the heart has been here, where it now belongs.
When he's around, the world just stops,
all the usual worries drop.
Everything else gets fuzzy and slow,
and the heart does a flutter-y show.
It's a weird kind of feeling,
this happy nervousness, it makes one glow.
