This Friday Bible Study

This week’s lesson is “Friendship with the World”, James 3:13-18 and we’ll start the discussion by defining “worldliness”; listing examples of activities that we might view as “worldly” and examining what it means to be “in” the world but not “of” the world. Additional verses to read this week are: Conflict in the church: John 17:20-21; 2 Corinthians 12:20; Ephesians 2:3; and 2 Timothy 3:2-5 Friendship with the world is enmity with God: Psalms 21:8; Isaiah 42:13; Nahum 1:2, 8; Luke 19:27; Romans 5:10; 1 Corinthians 15:25 Slandering/Judging: Proverbs 10:18, 11:9; 1 Corinthians 4:14; 2 Corinthians 12:20; Ephesians 4:31; Colossians 1:28; 2 Timothy 3:3; Titus 2:3 Drawing near to God: Psalm 27:8, 73:28; Hebrews 4:16 Prerequisites for Drawing near to God: Psalms 24:3-4; Ezekiel 18:31, 36:25-26; 2 Timothy 2:22; 1 Peter 1:22 What does it mean to “resist the devil”: Ephesians 2:2; 1 John 3:8; 5:19 As you read, make some notes related to these questions: What does this scripture tell us about Christ? What does it say about the nature of man? What can I do to be more like Christ? How does it help prepare me to do the will of God (Share the Gospel)? Enjoy the week and we’ll see you Friday, 19 January at 6:30 PM. Here is what is happening. Jim Horn
