Fighting the weather with prayer Inspired by faith – they’ll get there Reaching beyond their own wants To the heart of the hope that haunts Reminding with wisdom that grace Will awaken joy and peace in this place Where they offer their lives to Him The One who blessed them to the brim Riding a donkey and feeling so weary She struggled to never appear dreary Her heart was alive with the coming life Who kicked in her womb - sharp as a knife Together, the two made their way past Others who were honest and steadfast Everyone was doing their duty to pay The taxes that they owed in that day Relieved to reach their final destination Bethlehem, where God would bring elation Here, Mary would give birth to a Son The King of Kings, the One who had begun To show us all the reason for our being And give us the redemption for freeing The souls within who needed His mercy Settling every doubt without controversy Glory to God in the highest – Our Savior The One who would forgive our behavior He came to bring life, light and lasting love All the joy that comes from trusting God above On this night, so many years ago, He was born The One who would teach us to give and warn Us of the many perils Satan has in his plans Even though we know God has it all in His hands One beautiful night – all those years gone by Jesus came to bring to us a gift we can’t buy The gift of eternal life – Him being our sacrifice Thank God for a Savior who paid the highest price With Him there is no reason to ever worry or fear He comforts every sorrow and wipes away each tear Without this man called Jesus, we would never know The reason for the light that keeps our hearts aglow! I’m so very thankful for the birth of this child Who, in time, would allow us to be reconciled Nativity New Poems Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Eve Roper December 18, 2021

Thank you, Regina, and congratulations on your win. I am totally shocked that so many of the poets that wrote a nativity poem weren't read. Bless you with a new year with lots of blessings.
