There's a Message In a Bottle

There's a bottle in the ocean which keeps drifting to and fro And this bottle in the ocean Holds the secret of my soul There 's a bottle in the ocean with a message to outpour But this message holds a whisper that 's concealed forevermore Above kingdoms of Sirens and their cursing song This bottle floats and flow It would not burst nor spill a verse My suppressed mysteries will not be known. There's a bottle in the ocean It is carried by wild waves There are whirlwinds that surround it It will never reach safe bays It would never reach the sandshore It will never reach a hand It keeps turning in the ocean Far from the promised land Far from the man made castles Far from the sun~kissed beach Far from rose~scented petals and far from conquered dreams.

original idea making the message in the bottle a symbol of your suppressed emotions. The repetition of 'far from' towards the end gives a melancholy effect.congrats Charmaine

A freedom lives somewhere in all of us, in everything we do, and along with everything we care for strongly...sometimes the genius of our freedom must not have a destination or defined goal in order to flourish, so to survive. Freedom is a measure of our strength and must roam the unknown to live Charma. There is a charming dignity in your soul's isolation, a certain invincibility that is very attractive. Your heart will come to know a splendid shore beautiful poetess...J.A.B.

Charmaine, A lovely and wonderful lyric poem here. Although, bottles like this usually hit some remote beach somewhere, I do like the concept of the bottle with its precious contents eternally floating on the ocean. Most Well-Done, and a "7" from me. Best Always, Gary

Love this Charmaine, and every bottle should reach golden sands or rocky shores. It's certainly better, than to bob for evermore, James :) :)xx

This happens. There are bottles out there, real ones, and one's we all toss out with our hearts. Your poem carried me start to finish in a very eloquent way. The rhyme was good, the structure consistent, and I liked the mixture of iambic and trochaic prosody. I can't do that stuff, so I gather it just comes natural. Congrats, Thomas
