There Was a Time

There was a time when meadows&forests&streams
greeted me each day
and I would find myself bathed in dappled light
but those childhood places are now just a dream
for the years have changed the landscape
and those places are no more
yet, in other places the sun still comes&goes
and birds still sing joyous songs&flowers still sway
to fill my heart with bliss . . .
