There Is a Season

There is a season for sadness rain darkens and dampens the mood. Darkness hushes gladness ~ There is a season for new birth rain feeds thirsty gardens flowers spring up from peaty earth ~ There is a season for warm sun rain feels nice to dance in holding hands with your special one ~ There is a season all is stilled rains splash on dying leaves The weary soul rests, and is filled

Your words remind me of Eccl. 3:1. "To everything there is a season" Yes, there is. And of course, Verses 2- 8. Your thoughts caress gently around me and my heart. This is so beautiful and tender, all at the same time. Hugs, Brandy

Turn, Turn, Turn, that great song long before you were born, written from those very verses in Ecclesiastes. Thank you for the kind visit and for turning my thoughts towards Scripture, my dear friend. Rain is life, and life is one season after another.

Lovely penned, John! Like the 'Four Season' / Shades of Ecclesiastes themes! G.L. in the contest. Happiness and Joy, Gershon

Love this! You've done it again, John. A picture perfect write. For some the rain refreshes and others it darkens and dampens :)

I like the connection to the four seasons, and the use of rain in the middle line of each stanza - the ending one so poignant and wistful (soupmail)

wow, you did yours more eloquently I think than I did mine. We kind of covered those seasons of life and you spiced yours with romance. Very well done, my friend.

How lovely, every season gladdens my heart John whether Winter, Autumn, Summer or Spring. Rain seems to take a lead role in all your seasons poem, life giving water. without it all life would perish. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Glad you noticed the rain thread. We live in what amounts to a desert; drought is common, water is precious. You picked up on that well. Hugs ~ John

My thoughts immediately turned to Ecclesiastes 3:1 - 8. For everything there is a season, and lyrics later written by Pete Seeger... Turn, Turn, Turn." Very nicely composed, John.

That's a good reference, Jenna. Hadn't thought of it until you mentioned it, but it's a great connection. And I love that song! Thanks for the visit.

Yes, yes, yes, yes... I really do not like Autumn and Winter as i suffer from seasonal affective disorder.. so thats why my poems have been so sad lol...I see rain in all your season, do you live in the UK?

I'm sorry to hear about your SAD. My son has it to a degree, and it kind of limits him to where he can live. No, I'm in Southern California, which is basically beach or desert. Hardly any rain to speak of. I was using it more as a metaphor of moods. Thanks for the visit, SO
