There Is a Certain Taste To Autumn

there is a certain taste to Autumn almost alien to Summer's fruition of life it is a different celebration where the living having succeeded fruits succumb to ripened apples the hazel sweetens its core gourds of every color deck the leaves now browning life begins its crawl into hibernation the breath of the cold to come whispers in trees where leaves plummet to the end of their use it heralds a job well accomplished a time to celebrate the long journey that burst thru the mud and ice as Winter left its' toll and Spring began its wondrous labors Autumn is a time to rejoice dream of the snow crocus that return year after year that dutiful call of God Earth still has a purpose where mortality labors into immortal the composts stand ready to urge the first blade of grass to struggle and greet the dawn nourished by life's rotting flesh Autumn is death knocking at the door reminding the granary stored is the duty of God's gift to the seasons yet to come OKC 9/22

Well, I don't know if there's something in the air but this is yet another brilliant Poetry Souper's poem I've read this morning - and it's another brilliant poem from the heart, mind and ink of Mr Timothy Ray. Loved it. Cheers - Gary

- Autumn has a lot to offer... but, it whispers in my ear: "...winter is coming soon ... are you ready?" ... A beautiful poem, Timothy -

Oh my- Timray: I don’t think I have ever seen Autumn described more perfectly. You have my full attention, too. This will always be a FAV for me. Just beautiful. Autumn blessings flow to you. SuZ

This is a beauty Timothy, and so true. My wife has worked the garden all summer, and the freezer and shelves are nearly full with the harvest, which will last well into spring. Every morning, I am greeted with the gift of persimmons. I do not begrudge the birds the ones that are chewed; my freezer is near to overflowing. Ecclesiastes on full display, with much to be thankful for.

thank you Jeff, inspired by John Keats and listening to Bringing in the Sheaves a Christian hymn written by Knowles Shaw....many an Autumn Harvest Festival i remember in small town America....it is more than important to remember the tables we fill also insure God's gift goes forward...and gratitude for life, how wonderful i can see and understand the stars but more so...His gift, the ability to feel and share Love....Autumn is a beautiful time but more so the gratitude for life, the cornucopia of tastes alone we are blessed with...amazing...blessed that we can forward that gift to our children....you just sit in the miracle and say, Thank You Lord
