There Are Days When
The luster of the dipping sun
How wondrous to behold--
Its veil encircling oaks and cliffs
With hints of fire and gold :
Then tinselled beams illuminate
A passage down the road;
Mirroring spangle of lanterns
As this heart yearns for warm abode.
On days like this…I seek relief
From uptown’s rhythmic noise--
Where faceless crowds scuttle around
That lulled breaths grant me joys:
While back at home to gather strength
For quickly wanes the light--
Till calm reflections blend to fuse
Embracing hushed midnight.
