The Woman Behind the Scarf
I see you behind your black scarf
Hidden from the world
Those wrinkles of age and hate
I see you behind those eyes
Shrouded in mystery and blue like the sea
They hide pains beyond words
I see you when I touch your open hands
Hard and calloused palms
The hard work of youth pasted boldly for all to see
I see you in your gait
Bent, slow paced and haggard
The dividend of time and broken youth
That is why I hug you with all my love
Letting my heart beat silently with yours
Same rhythm, same rhyme
Rewinding the years and time gone past!
