The Wind of October

The Wind of October A whisper of frost on the breath of bright autumn On wings October flies in a whirlwind of sighs. The wind shivers with cold - time’s messenger bold; Waking up from their naps mufflers, mittens – woolen caps. On wings October flies in a whirlwind of sighs Chilling sweet spice perfumes beneath harvest moons Waking up from their naps mufflers, mittens – woolen caps. As bare branches now tremble like bare arms they resemble. Chilling sweet spice perfumes beneath harvest moons The wind shivers with cold – time’s messenger bold; As bare branches now tremble like bare arms they resemble A whisper of frost on the breath of bright autumn. Sam, I really like how this pantoum starts with all the "w" words: whisper, wind, wings, whirlwind, waking, woolen. Kind of gives that whooshing sound of an autumn wind. Then like a swirling helix, each line returns to blow one more time over and under the October imagery of bare branches and warm clothes. Delightful internal rhymes, too. My favorite line is the first one; it trips off the tongue like a leaf being blown down the frosty street. Wonderful poetry, friend. ~ John

Thank you for your keen eye, John. Pantoums are fun. You do have the ability to see so many things hidden in the poem's construction. I always love your comments. Have learned so much from you dear friend. Stay well. Be blessed! Here's to a virtual first pitch.
