The Wilderness Part 1

You’ve heard of the old famous song, So in our journey, bring that along, This old world has been a wilderness, And I am ready for deliverance! When I was a child, I grew up in the wild, My devils were a plenty, Each one like a new entity! My lust was conceived, As I believed, In each one, I thought I had so much fun, As though I had won, Some great prize, But I finally realized! As my face turn blue, In my world bright and new, As we sing about the truth, Our minds remain aloof, I am ready for deliverance, If only of my own mind will do, How about you! In our world, We explore, The metaphors, Of mind’s expansion, We think to build mansions! As we live actually strife, We say, that’s nice, We even blame God for awhile, As a sucking child, But let’s scat that cat, And find out where we’re at! Some say I’ve never been there, Well I do declare, I am heir, As you heir, Of our filthy mansion, Of earthy expansion! I have personally lived in strife, While it was sapping my life, Three marriages, trying to find myself, Un till nothing was left, But to blame myself, Un till I said, to my selves, I hope you’re happy, nothing is left! To cut off your nose, to spite your face, Is such a disgrace, And a total waste, Of the internal place, Wherein is God’s face! Wherein is the how of now, Life is lived as love in action! When you’re at the place, Where nothing is left, Quit blaming yourself, Quit blaming your wealth, Quit blaming love, the real self, It is the real you that’s left! When the judge is gone, We are left alone, With the real self! 6-22-09 johnmosesfreeman@yahoo.com

Hi John! Congratulations on your poem being featured this week on Soup! So relevant- as always...Looking back today, I see that even in those days while in the wilderness I wasn't abandoned...it was I who walked away and yet....He never let me go! Much love, Annalise

John M Freeman, This is an amazing poem with very deep insight. It was a pleasure to read this at my first opportunity of the day when I could sit without rushing and enjoy words. There in the quiet I was blessed by your words. Thank you. Dane
