The Whole Fairy Tale
CHANCE ENCOUNTER
She sizzled softly through the crowd
white grin exuding cheer.
Between the lines it read:
please don't see what's not here.
He caught her eye and flashed a grin
carefully monitoring suave and charm.
Between the lines it read:
tenderhearted, please don’t harm.
She glided softly through her mind
thoughts of him and more.
Could he? Would he? Her heart unwind?
Wondering...was this...amor?
He whistled softly to himself
as he headed out the door
sated by white grin cheer, thinking,
"When it's time she'll show me more."
THREE DAYS LATER…
The number in his pocket
burned warm against his leg.
Dare he chance or would she see him
as a scallywag?
She glanced at unknown number.
Engaged, she’d let it ring
but then a tiny heart leap tickled,
"Think it might be him?"
Suddenly he dropped the phone
cursing his jangling nerves.
Took tons to dial once, now again?
He redialed remembering those curves.
Abruptly it stopped ringing.
Was it really him?
And why was she so flustered?
Oh! She smiled, thinking of that grin.
FIRST STEPS
He'd been around the town before
knew how to play the game
but something in her hello said
this time won't be the same
She was no stranger to the game
but with it she was bored.
"We'll make it different this time," she thought
"than it's ever been before."
"What's up?" he posed to her hello
which vaguely startled something
he'd never been aware of?
Oh, she's talking! His reverie faded way.
"Nothing much," she said, wrapping words in decoy
as though she had her arms around his neck
fingers sifting through curls while
their eyes danced...OH, she's TALKING!...
FIRST KISS
Whoa, slow down boy you're goin' where
them angels fear to tread.
Get outa my dress and focus
I wanna know about your head
She asked some questions following.
a few that he'd never heard.
He answered them with some chagrin
then pondered... Oh my WORD!
She blushed to his response when questioned
"What music do you like?"
I Iike the kind that sucks the marrow from my bones
the kind that leaps carelessly through raging flames
I like the kind that awakens the sleeping sun,
the kind that drives desire raging frenzy crazy,
the kind that makes two people dance down danger
until sweat crash exhausted and reeking of love well spent.
“Oh, cool,” she said.
AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER
THE END
