The White Trellis

There in my garden on a white trellis verdantly climbs a honeysuckle vine, blossoms vivacious now are quite zealous, beguiling flora will hummingbirds find. Verdantly climbs a honeysuckle vine up the white trellis that's steady and sure, beguiling flora will hummingbirds find, tangerine flowers with nectar allure. Up the white trellis that's steady and sure sweet petals curl back in flirtatious drapes, tangerine flowers with nectar allure fragrant and flaunting their tubular shapes. Sweet petals curl back in flirtatious drapes, blossoms vivacious now are quite zealous, fragrant and flaunting their tubular shapes there in my garden on a white trellis. Susan Ashley July 15, 2017

You sound like quite the gardener! I love the line, "sweet petals curl back in flirtatious drapes", and your clever trellis/zealous rhyme. So many wonderful nature words paint a pantoum landscape of color and growth - verdantly is my favorite! Horticultural hugs! ~ John

Yes, I do love my garden, John. My husband and I planted an orange honeysuckle (beautiful!) and trained it on a white trellis on the back fence of our garden and voila!.. a few years later, the inspiration for this poem :) I relish your lovely critiques and I especially appreciate your appreciation for the trellis/zealous rhyme - that was a challenge for sure.. lol! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Hi Susan, another Pantoum to sing its song from your wondrous pen. Such a beautifully fragrant piece which describes such beauty. Here, you use the Pantoum form to its most wonderful extent. The scents and sights from your wonderful poetry come through. Your palette does paint such a colourful canvas within my mind, a living canvas, one I could step right into. This is a beauty to shine with all your other beauty Susan. Have a wonderful Thursday. Hugs....Mike. XX

Hi Jan, thank you for reading my poem and for your lovely comment. We have hummingbirds galore in our backyard. I tempt them to stay every spring and summer with feeders and plantings of flowers that they love. I hope you get to see one in your yard someday :)
