The White Carnation and Red Rose Bouquet

The white carnation and red rose bouquet - How beautiful it was with its array of baby’s breath – as beautiful as she - our innocent sweet girl, a bride -to – be. It was so perfect for the special day. The white carnation and red rose bouquet she'd picked out from a florist's magazine would never by her eyes be freshly seen. And though she’d thrilled to know the symbol of her chosen flowers’ colors was pure love, the white carnation and red rose bouqet upon our daughter’s casket we now lay. Before her wedding day, our daughter met with tragedy, but we will not forget the dream we all lost. Now is on display the white carnation and red rose bouquet. Oct. 7, 2017

What terrible thing happened to your daughter? Terrible things happen to good people all the time. On my baby brother's grave it reads "Flower Child Now Live Forever". My sister named her kid after him. I worked with him on a song. If you want to hear it go to Demon Demon Ghost Funk Orchestra. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Like a lot of my poetry, my friend, this is a work of fiction!! But I am sure it has happened to somebody at some time or other.

whomever appoint a blissful day and the day come to pass, should be thankful. I pray will not happen in anyway to anyone. It is a great calamity that joyous joy turned to sadness. what a heart wrenching write. Thanks for sharing.

This is so sad Andrea--the poem does highlight how these beautiful flowers are used for both happy and sad--appreciate the contrast--and the tragedy you described does happen in life--best for a win!

Very excellently done my friend, a very well written Quatern! I love this form, it is quite difficult to master but a lot of fun do once you get the knack of it! I surely enjoyed reading your sad poem of heartache in losing a bride to be! What a honorable piece to this person, I bet it is a true story! Great work!!

Oh Andrea....what was the inspiration for this piece? How did it come to you. So sad...one moment planning a wedding, the next others planning a funeral. Great write.
