The What If S

What If ?
All wars were to end
All suffering was gone
All hunger was filled
And all poverty had flown

What if ?
All pain was to disappear and comfort was to emerge
Is this the lesson we all must learn ?
What If ?
Love replaced hate and fear
With kindness
And joy was to endure
Would we be the same as before ?

What If ?
Optimism cured doubt
Would we know what it’s all about ?
What if sadness evaporated
And left only happiness
What If ?
Selfishness had left the station
So thoughtfulness and patience
Could stand in its place
I could begin to see the smiles on everyone’s faces .

What If ?
All FEAR was complimented by the noble and the brave
What If ?
Shame shed it’s tears and only truth was to remain
What If ?
Pollution and disease suddenly vanished ?
Is there anything better we could do for our planet ?
Leave your footsteps only and let it be written
We gave the best and forgot the rest

Even now, in these dark days
We can still embark on this
Life’s’ greatest of journeys
