The Wasteland - a Short Story

Lost wandering the waste he looks at the Destruction around him
"What God would allow this!" He yelled
"No god would ever allow his "Perfect" children die like this." Replied an old man
"Then who would?" Asked the young man
"Death would." He answered
"How do you know this?" Asked the young man
"For death is the only thing that can actual effect man." The old man answered
"That's not true God saves all those who follow him, right." He asked
The old man chuckled "Why do think god exists."
"What do mean?"
"Man made god to escape death, but even god can't escape him."
"God can do anything!" The young man screamed
"Then why did he let this happen." The old man inquired
"I..I...i don't know why." The young said quietly
"Because he doesn't exist. Man made him to escape death, but all did was lead to even more death over who's god was right, who's god was real, and who's god was stronger."
"Then whats the point?" the young man said through tears
"Whats the point? Really there is no point. We live to die. One could say it's to ensure the survival of the spices, but we'll go extinct eventually. To have as much fun as possible, but that only distract you from the inevitable. So what is the meaning to it all there is none you just exist. You are the only one who can truly answer the ultimate question. You make your own meeting, and when death comes you greet him as an old friend." The old man stated.
"How do you know?" the young man asked
"Because I've always been here old friend."
