The Wall Between Us

I've already been broken down, When I did rise, I rose stronger than ever, Now that pain, again, may never be found I tucked it 'way in the many levels,... Decrees of being that you see Hidden in plain sight by my smile No, you may never know of struggles I've dealt 'less you've been 'round a while, Good-natured in his spirit, [He was] A man of pure virtue, Like any other he had faults, his flaws, But I knew of his heart to be true Not a drop of filtered water On these plains, could compare To his pure nature, from what I saw Yet let us not (try to) hide the fact That no one is perfect Like I said, he had his faults But it seems to me, the unexpected Did catch me by surprise and off guard For it seems that even with the purest intent, Things can all fall apart But that's all past now, And I've moved on, In spirit it's unbeknownst, But if you ever ask me, I'll speak truth And this is what'll be known You know I've already been hurt before, It's true, but not blatantly so, No longer, I'll remain in the pit that I'd fallen My heart, he'll never know
