Since I can find no poem in my anthology that has not been entered into any contest at all, I will post this sonnet written over 25 years ago, imagining revisiting a farm  from yesteryears.

This is for Silent One's Any Poem Not For Contest Poetry Contest

There's wood for chopping stacked up near the door to fuel warm fires in the kitchen stove which Papa proudly bought when I was four, long time before I left this house to rove. A puppy lies contented on the rug. He's bigger than the one I'd called my own, that pet I'd named for what he was, my Pug, who cheered me up when I was all alone. Whenever Mama cleaned, she shooed us out, and off we'd run down to the swimming hole. Now Papa's dead and Mama's got the gout. I rise to go outside and take a stroll. I bid farewell to summers gone for good; before I leave again . . . I'll chop that wood.

A touching and sentimental write on the memory of loved ones and the childhood home...

A very interesting visit. The changes are inevitable and sad, but we hope they had and we have the life we want or wanted to have. That is not such an easy task in this complex world that sometimes limits our choices. It's nice that you chopped the wood. A symbol for taking care the best you can.

Such a shocking image transition ~ from a child and puppy running, to a dead father and then, a stroll to bid farewell to Summer and not her mother. Good thing mama's got a pug. Like particular facets of a broken heart ~ Warmth?

This is soul touching and so evocative dear sweet andrea: i felt the depth of this especially when you said “ Now Papa's dead and Mama's got the gout.“ that made me sad. Sigh! As always your sonnet rhymes well and flows so seamlessly! I always enjoy reading your different types of poems, each one has a sincere touch. Congratulations on your win too. Sending you light today and always

Not my home. Maybe the home of a great grandpa of mine. They were farmers.

Thanks. I believe there are two poems that were too late to be in the contests they were written for but I probably put them in contests for oldies. Or for. Brian. I can't even remember their titles.

Seriously. I get all my ideas from the challenges and most of my older works I also put into challenges when they matched contest descriptions. And when older poems are allowed, I use some of my poems here again and again. I am amazed how many poems the contests have inspired me to write. Thanks for the second place!
