The Viper

As a coiled viper strikes without reason, unleashing its intense venom to its unsuspecting prey— Shock becomes entwined with pain in waves of desperation. The viper, apathetic because of its very nature, seeks only to serve its own needs as victims lay waste in the wake of its trails. You, my darling, are a viper!

was drawn to your poem by the title. I grew up in Georgia where there is a proliferation of rattlesnakes, water moccasins, copperheads, etc. -- pit vipers they are called. We learned young in life to recognize and avoid them. As I was reading your wonderful poem I was nodding my head in agreement. And then what a curve you threw me in the last line! In an instant I saw your poem in a whole new light. Beautiful metaphor! If this is your personal relationship, I hope you are free of it! Sam

thanks for visiting my poems, Connie. I am down here sneaking a peek and running right back up to catch my recordings of Survivor and Idol. Which singer are you rooting for? I have two or three favorites. Sorry I don't see a new poem of yours to visit!!

I like Malaya best. When she gets her braces off and gets contacts which I am sure she will in a year or so, she will be a raving beauty to go along with her voice. She is very young but her potential is limitless. Thanks

That last line of yours, made me smile in a weird way-- but yup, what you say here is so true, Connie! When one becomes a victim of such vipers, one is one left to do? Oh shucks, I feel bad, I had totally missed submitting that to PFT, I'm sorry! I will make sure I do, thank you so much again for leaving such inspiring comments to my poems!
