The Un-Planet Has Four Moons
The Un-Planet Has Four Moons
By Elton Camp
Despite being round with an orbit of its own,
As being considered a planet, Pluto is gone
Since the 1970s, of moon Charon we’ve known
Now the number of satellites to four has grown
Old Pluto may well look and quack like a duck
But in the eyes of astronomers, it is out of luck
And to most of us, a planet Pluto will always be
Its demotion to “dwarf” makes no sense to me
If to humans the same principle we should apply
To aspire to being a person, a midget needn’t try
(The fourth satellite has just been discovered and hasn't been named yet. Pluto has more moons than Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars combined. But "words mean what I choose them to mean, no more and no less" say the astronomers.)
