The Tranquil Picnic At Dusk

I’d love to be with you in a canoe
accompanied by summer’s softest breeze,
enjoying the verdant valley view
while drifting on a river lined with trees.

Ahead would be a peak that whisks the sky.
We’d look above us from our little boat
to where the eagle and the osprey fly
as in the quiet glow of dusk we’d float.

We’d dock on sand and find a cozy spot
to roast some hot dogs in our campfire’s heat
and spread the luscious picnic foods we’d brought;
then relishing tranquility, we'd eat!

Amid dark, silent pines, by fire's bright light,
we'd snuggle happily into the night.

ANDREA! Of all the entries yours was the one I would like to actually reenact! A romantic canoe ride like ON GOLDEN POND-your version, ON GOLDEN RIVER! Same romantic effect! Should have placed higher. HIgh 5 girl! Gwendolen

Andrea, Is there room for a 3rd person at this picnic? I love canoeing and enjoying the soft summer's breeze. I love birdwatching and watching the sunset over the tall pines along the river banks. This sounds like a winner 2 me! Enjoyed your write. Gwendolen

Oy my, how I do wish I was in that canoe. The images of sheer content flowed just as easy as the canoe on crystal clear waters. Followed up by a delicious picnic, McYummy. Good luck in Carol's fine contest Utah Babe. Have a lovely weekend....:)
