The source of love
The vulnerability of hate
The agreeable organ
The organ of fierce debate
The freedom to choose
The Handcuff of Fate
The Lost
The Found
The Forward
The Turned Around
The All
The Nothing
The First Class
The Second Rate
The generous mate
The selfish ingrate. 

(The heart is strong
and the heart is weak
the heart is brazen
and the heart is meek -- 

needy enough, fond nature
enough, to take a baseless
chance on love in advance)

Thank you, Sara. Rest is important. We all need it. Shamefully I must admit, not for of lack of subject, but sometimes I simply wonder, why bother? What's the point in my writing? Just getting old I guess.

So interesting your thoughts process and patterning of this poem on the heart. At first I thought THES was a new word I didn't know because I was hearing it as rhyming with Tess. I enjoyed this one

Just a silly word I made up. "The" doesn't really have a different plural. "The" is both singular and plural form. So, like usual I made up a word thinking it added a little twisted fun sense to the title. I often play fast and loose with language; but spelling errors are also because I am a terrible speller -- really don't pay close enough attention to spelling. I can read something over 20 times before realizing, wait a second -- that is so wrong! Geez! If only spell check knew what I was thinking.

That's it! The heart is feeling organ more than a reasoning organ. I bet, on an subatomic level, the ticks and tocks are always bickering. Thank you, Paula.

I have read this 3 times and may read it again, there are layers of much between each line, and I garner a new one with each read. There is a poetry form, LIST it's called, and this fits that as well as free verse. "The Thes", is a cool title. Poetry hugs ... CayCay
