The Temple of Automatic Wondering

Spiderweb phantoms of the energy lattice,
tension spires where emotion opaquers
draw from the void.

She'd get up early
and rent a hotel room
where the staff would remove
any paintings or pictures from the walls.
She brought the Bible and a deck of cards,
plus a thesaurus and a bottle of sherry -
ha! you know this sounds good -
she'd play solitaire if she needed to get in the mood,
she'd write on yellow sheets of paper with lines on them.
That's the way Maya Angelou did it.

If there's an intersection between physics, philosophy and religion,
then I'm going to be very pleased, incorporated,
maybe even superluminal.

The layered ziggurat that you climb,
the humming iridescence coming from within,
the high priestess is at work.

Counterfactual definitions,
waveform collapses,
conservation of information.
Can random data be generated?
Derived forms,
ancient watercourses,
rapturous from trying too hard.

So, let's kill the essence,
leave ourselves hollow silhouettes,
fast-moving blanks,
or the ultimate satisfaction
that goes so slow we won't live long enough to touch it.

Love the title and the seeming random data. I often regret that I won't live long enough to touch it all either. Happy to have discovered your pages tonight. Happy 2017. SuZ

Hi Suzanne. : ) Just hearing that, "Happy 2017" is like something out of a dream....

Thank you, Paloma. I like that word, "phantoms." I don't think of it very much, but now that I do, I bet they are there, driven before us on the wind of our thoughts.

This piece paints a ghostly yet seductive portrait of a deep seething fear that perhaps doubles as desire when the mood hits. I see red as I read this, actually a dark crimson tint to the thoughts expressed here and faux oak paneling. A very creative flow of thoughts that do seem to zigzag on a planned course that is anything but straight and narrow.

People are so complex, Chris. One thing for sure, I fear being bored.

Can you do that unconscious writing? I would love to be able to do that! Good luck with the contest, Doug!

"Can you do that unconscious writing?" Not that I know of, Rick. :p
