Notes About The Poem

This poem was written while being stranded by being flooded in during Hurricane Harvey in 2017.  While at the surface it was a disaster it was the event that forged the relationship with my beautiful Marianne... I lost almost everything materially but gained so much more in true riches.

The Tempest

Wind...
Growling with intensity
Like an angry Beast

Lightning...
Flashing so brightly
As to bring day to night

Rain...
Pouring upon pouring
As if to drown our world

Comfort...
In each other’s arms
Shielding each from the Tempest

Knowing...
That regardless
Love would carry us through

Love...
So intense and intimate
Bond us from here to ever after
