The Tangled Tongue
There I was those many years ago
first day at primary school so young
my first teacher asked my name
but there all met my tangled tongue
Something so personal so very close
the thing that was the real me
my own very name couldn’t come
is this my life now? Words not free!
All of my class would now know
that this guy couldn’t say his name
all of life now would be a struggle
that my tongue was really lame
But through years of struggle and pain
moving on refusing to give in
some victories along this bumpy road
thanks be to God sometimes I can grin
Truly believing God has His plan
that despite that first day at school
Jesus has helped me over every word
His love shows I’m His real jewel
(My first day at school and the horror of showing my stammer ( my tangled tongue) to all there but looking back now and seeing how far we've come, praise be to God!)
