The Sunset
The Sunset
An orb of glowing dying embers
Smolders upon the contoured horizon
Exuding fading rays of light
Outwardly towards its nocturnal cloak
A paling luminosity that fleetingly lights the eve
But a sinking ship consumed by the briny
Into the depths that lie below
Piercing dregs that tinge the clouds
With golden hue to bid farewell
A final flourish of slow descent
Into the darkening beyond
While night blanks the canvas
And douses the blazing glory
The world awaits its next display
Of deft golden strokes upon the top
