The Subway

I seldom take a book with me more reading entertainment watching others turn their pages, body-language a literary giveaway the positioning of their heads how torsos are tilted right or left, perhaps Representative of one's politics – foreign occupation by written words of another one can't tell a book by its cover but a whole lot revealed by the measure of pages read...lack of conversation and how eyes avert....

and i serve Him well....He has opened doors galore....when i counseled substance abuse i could sit a prospect down and march him thru seven consecutive doors God opened....then i challenged them to prove the outcomes were coincidence....none could....i am living proof, God exists, and i owe that to a man who told me...when God opens a door, become Daniel and walk thru because every door there is something...good, bad or a question mark it is for you to succeed in life....i have...He called me to soup lines, as a hospital chaplain, and counselor and now retired as a prayer warrior....and now home, i know my time left is short....but Joe that is one chariot i am ready to ride to my real home...may the fruition of God's blessings follow you and yours this day

I am 76, one up on you. Just playing:) I respect your opinions. And we probably have much in spiritual common, outside the obvious. Blessings my friend. Also in His Service. I know nothing but the grace of God.

yes Joe and that is you....differences and likenesses are tools for profiling...i am a link in a prayer chain which is part of my day....the equality i speak of is in a relationship....as one who has studied extensively theology, the body of Christ is a plethora of differences...my relationship is with God...and at 75 i have no need of making friends...i have a small group i have known since 3rd grade...my 50th reunion they remembered me as precocious, obnoxious, and always had a book in my face...i wish you well out there but God is the only contact i really care about and why i am 29 years sober, happy, joyous, and free

So, you do go out, via internet. I would rather hold Barbie. Islands parted when we lose current, myself more interested in our differences than likeness, always intrigued by what others can teach me or how they can entertainment In ways I cannot entertain myself. Equality never enters my mind. We are all one, equal in the Body of Christ.

in this century one does not have to exit a door to be in the sea of humanity....the Internet is where islands are now joined....por ejemplo...the other day a man and i were discussing the problem infinity poses to physicists...they prefer math that comes to a conclusion for the most part....the other feather in the cap, as a researcher i can follow conversations undetected and gather information deeper than what book they are reading...this led to the profile i use for "soulmates" they are real, have distinctive characteristics...not to be confused with the general term....they even develop Cryptophasia, like twins, a small circle of friends, one or two children at most, no hierarchy only equality

Nothing is ours in that sense. Age claims us. Time has mortal dominion over purely physical forms. One must seek the immortal if to have a Kingdom worth keeping. So, at best, I think such kingdom, which you speak of, is a compromise of sorts, at peace but not truly independent. One must venture out, to recognize and write of the within universe that is an expression of unlimited faces and potential manifest destinies. If I am to be my best writer, in my mind, I must set for myself no limited territories of contentment. Donne was here and beyond aware.

no man an island....true words from John Donne....but he may never have fully grasped the Homesman...Urban Dictionary...A homesman is a male who prefers his day spent inside his domicile. He is not afraid of the outside world. He is not confined to his abode. He is simply a man who is content in his kingdom.....i am such an animal

One of the times we are forced to come together (or nearly) -- no man can remain an island...all of those shared by keen sighted birds and far more resilient seas. Blessings my friend.

So true Joe, even now as they look at their tablets ,its the same. I like to try to guess what they are watching. The nod of their heads or toe tapping is a dead giveaway for a music video. All fun. Great poem Joe. Best wishes Wen

Hi Wen; for sure, people watching is far better fun than a book in my opinion. Really rather see a real flower in nature, though pictures are good reminders. Blessings.

Hello Joe, I take a small writing pad with me. I jot down poetry ideas and then create a poem. Or just create a poem. I also take a book with me to read./Poetry\ seldom a novel. I prefer to write with a pen. I always have another pen handy when neded. Blessings my friend. /Darlene\

True, I very seldom take a book with me. Most of my reading is done at night, in bed -- mostly reference material and poetry. And occasionally a short story or novel, but I prefer to write. Using pencil to avoid ink stopping its flow for the pen often inverted. Thank you, Darlene. Blessings my friend.
