The Story of a Hat

I once owned a pretty hat
Flowers and buds formed a garland around
People said it looked like a mat
I locked it in so it couldn’t be found
Then after a year I tried to match it on a gown

When located it was damp and musty
Smelled like stale bread a month old
The flowers looked limp and dusty
I tried to straighten it and open its fold
Alas inside lived a colony of termites, behold

This poem made me laugh out loud, Tahera. We have to be careful where and how we store clothing. I actually had field mice "eat" my Christmas stocking when it was stored in the garage. Hats off to you for a great entry! Wishing you success. Love, Carolyn
