Notes About The Poem

The Stormy Beach

Gulls soar and dive along the shore,
while searching for fresh scraps to score.
Their haunting cackle sounds, so pierce,
fighting for their catch, dangerously fierce.

A bright red buoy floats and faintly chimes,
seafarer’s warnings of dangerous mines.
A lighthouse beacon shines brightly at night,
with the foghorn blowing as a warning sight.

Waves rhythmically crash and wash along the beach,
bringing crabs and fish for nesting birds to reach.
Sandpipers now busy pecking and probing wet sand,
and whistling chirps while on one leg they stand.

A dark storm approaches with a loud thunder sound,
the sea water rages as waves crash and pound.
Birds find shelter as rain starts to come down,
as the melodic chorus of a sea storm surrounds.

Hi Tania, you have caught all the possible sounds one can hear on a beach ! A lovely rhyming poem so vibrant with sea life . Much enjoyed the images used especially of the sandpiper, standing on one leg and searching for food in the sand.
