The Sound of Silence

. a bird will still sing
placing faith in tomorrow
   as the last tree falls

This poem of yours is just one of the winning poems here on poetrysoup sometime ago. I believe you have accomplished more than this (haiku) and perhaps much more somewhere else -- not just here. I like many of your poems, almost everything. You write well Miss Ann! And I'm honored to meet you today. Please excuse me for my late Congratulations! :) Cliff

An exceptional Haiku, Ann. For me, it expresses a tenuous thread between hope (tomorrow's leafy bounty) with the reality of forest loss. But I may be off base in my reading. What a stellar write! Sincerely, Brian

Simply amazing Ann in its profoundness! Even without a forest, the birds will sing and fulfill their purpose in God's creation. Congratulations on your win. Blessings of song to you!

Thank you, Sam. I actually saw a photo of this very thing in, I think, Life Mag. years ago. It made an impression.

Where the tree falls..That's where it lies Anne.' Look at the birds of the air they Are fed, because existence is it is.' No man has apprehended all that Lies in store For those who are of God's Purchase'

Thanks, Andrea. Years ago, in Life Mag., I think, there was a picture of a bird doing exactly that. Its message of hope has stayed with me.
