The Simple Windchime
Walking along the north end seawall at dusk,
the beach, now quiet, visitors have come and gone
Gentle waves, on the sand, hardly noted.
About to return home, a distinctive sound called to me.
What I hear is the call of a windchime,
Reaching out, to welcome all to listen
The wind acting as the maestro, conducting
and carrying the melody along.
So many tunes so many tones
The size, and style may change
But the heart of the windchime is it's song.
Always willing to sing just for you.
The windchime a simple, silly thing, maybe,
But it can lift your spirit when you hear and feel it.
The breeze making it dance and sing,
Its own magic working to draw you near.
The little chime, gayly dancing all around
Its music touches all who are willing to listen.
Something special, a little treasure
Bringing simple pleasure, just by hanging there.
