Notes About The Poem

For the contest, "A Silent Kiss" by Constance La France

The Silent Kiss

A silent kiss, forgotten song,
Are the moments I've strung along
A necklace of days I once knew,
     that became broken without you

Summer's breeze carried us in clouds, impossibly high
We flew so far away, we were but a whispered sigh
lilac meadows remind us to hear, and not forget
Each silent kiss becomes a gold and crimson sunset

I sit alone 'neath branches bare
with chilly voice, wind tries to share
      a remembered song, springtime bliss
But I just think of our first kiss

      Lonely, waiting, the hours last
Each long day yawning to exist
Stolen are days as they go past
And then I hear your silent kiss

Dear Ann, my soulful poet friend, I was captivated by your romantic, bittersweet imagery. Sad yet vibrant beauty permeates your verse “each silent kiss becomes a gold and crimson sunset” - just wow! Your poem is breathtaking! An enduring love remembered yet with a loneliness that endures too. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Dear Susan, I love your beautiful comments. I think many have a love that has gone. It is a sadness we carry. Thank you for seeing that in my words. :)

Anne, there are so many emotions - highs and lows of life, joy and sadness - written into your beautifully crafted lines. There is a sweetness of consolation in your last line that made me sigh. Best wishes for the contest! Blessings!
