The Ship The sails were white, except the spinnaker. That was bright blue like the sky above. In the center was an eagle, wings spread, claws out. To call her pirate, would be… to do her wrong. She was more, much more. Her crew were tall, not under fed. They came from every nation. The call, was like a song. “Come, come to the stars, to lands and worlds far away.” It was from every mouth, on every breath. Adventure. Treasure maps sold at the corner, the five and dime plus. See everything, miss nothing. Buy a card to send back home. Leave it in the box… At the front. Words could not express, the music was so sweet. The draw, the pull, the magic of someplace new… Responsibility pulling everything down, like an anchor on reality. The promise… let go.
