The Search For Wealth

Many seek to find riches or a big pot of gold.
Money can provide stability and fix one's credit.
One’s children wouldn't have to struggle to
just survive.
However, riches don't bring happiness.
That my friend doesn't require wealth.
Invest your time in things that matter.
Living from paycheck to paycheck is
uncomfortable,
Especially in these trying times, many are
out of work.
Sometimes I feel like Cinderella in need of
a fairy godmother,
To come and make my life all better ( I want
the prince on the whole nine yards).
But that's not reality; I must create a
positive narrative in my own reality.
That's why I make every effort to stay
positive no matter what.
In the things that really matter, I think I'm
a millionaire.
If I actually become one materialistically,
I hope I don't lose myself in the process.

Last two lines Alexis really stand out as thought provoking, the questions within the poem that you answer, i believe many of us also have asked. But the poem is so important it needed to be written, and you have done a splendid job of it...

'In the things that really matter, I think I'm a millionaire!' -- Bravo, Alexis. B/c in the long run, nothing else matters except 'the things that matter!' -- Nothing else at all. Cheers, Gershon

So true, when you are rich in things that matter, life is always better - and if you ever do get the big jackpot, I'm sure you would not lose yourself :)

Having money is not something to be shunned, so long as you remember those in need. ~~

Hi Aleixis, it is only when there is a tragedy in a family that families come together, not always mind you. Another thing, if one becomes very wealthy overnight they forget their old friends and start with drugs and dregs. If you ever became a millionaires, you will always remember your poetry gang! Wealth doesn't make a person, humility does. Hugs and blessings. Jennifer.

A stunning write to behold as a model for life well lived. Powerful sentiments my friend--wealth is never the agent of happiness. Be the proud millionaire in things that matter, Alexis. So well said.
