The Rock

The rock, Hurling through heavy flat air, Knew what was coming. Closing its eyes, The world disappeared, For just a moment. Long enough to wonder, Why a face, Was screaming towards it. Just before impact, The rock, Fell into a dream. A soft human hand, Feeling warm, Caressed it. The rock smiled, At home, Safely held. Just before the kiss, The rock, Opened its eyes. With horror it felt, The pain Of the profound betrayal. The lips whispered, Sorry, As teeth screamed. Then a thousand pieces, Of bone, Shattered into the air.
