The road back home
         seems so easy
       He's been away
         so long...

       Will he tiptoe in
         and say 'Sorry'
       Before his chance
         is gone

I can understand this fully, my dear poet friend, sometimes the distance grows bigger and bigger til' one day its gone, the person dies, have experienced this first hand in the family . Thank you for sharing your heart , and your emotions, I fell it, :)
