Perched, waiting, still He swoops with swift precision Red tail fanned in flight His cry announcing intent See the beauty in this flight...

One time, after being away for a few days, we came home to find a red tailed hawk chick had fallen out of a nest, and was injured and in the grass of our backyard. My husband drove it to a sanctuary 20 miles up the road, where they nursed it and released it once it recovered. They are seen from time to time above our home.
