The Race of Your Life

Give it your all and do your best.
Always tell your self you can out run the rest.
Your heart is racing, your palms all sweaty,
you're ready to drive.
Round and round you go.
Lap after lap,
Like it's the race of your life.
Mash the gas, and make a pass,
Faster and faster you go.
5 laps left to go,
It's the race of your life.
You have to keep pushing.
3 laps, 2 laps,
Turn after turn, you're getting closer.
Almost to the finish line.
I see the checkered flag shine,
I take the win.
That was the race of my life.

Thank you Mr. Williams. This is one of my favorite poems I've wrote seeing as I come from a long line of dirt track racers. My son and I uses to race to karts on a dirt track.

A well-written poem, my favorite line has to be "Always tell your self you can out run the rest." :)
